One of two reactors at the southeastern Pennsylvania plant was taken offline last week for maintenance.
A southeastern Pennsylvania nuclear reactor taken offline last week for maintenance returned to full power this morning, according to its owner, Chicago-based Exelon Corp.Unit 2 at the Limerick Generating Station in Limerick Township, Pa., outside Pottstown in Montgomery County, was restarted following replacement and testing of a steam relief valve. Exelon says the work aimed to improve plant reliability.
At full power the plant's twin 1,200-megawatt reactors produce enough electricity for about 2 million homes, Exelon says.
