Former Northampton Area High School basketball standout Laura Newhard Lee is in good condition nine days after a horse-riding accident in Wyoming, hospital officials said.
Lee, who suffered seven broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and kidney and liver damage when she was thrown from a horse at Yellowstone National Park, is no longer in intensive care, said Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Michele Badrov.Lee, Northampton County's all-time leading scorer and two-time Express-Times Girls Basketball Player of the Year, was on a tour of the Western United States with her sister and their husbands.
Her father, David Newhard, could not be reached for comment today.
