The helicopter went down about a mile from the Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport.
A spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board says a helicopter involved in a crash that killed a Hunterdon County man in Coolbaugh Township hit trees as it approached an airport.The Monroe County crash also killed a Connecticut man and severely injured a Somerset County, N.J., man.
NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson says the helicopter crashed after striking the trees. Authorities say the site of Tuesday night's crash is about a mile from Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport.
The NTSB says it will be conducting an investigation throughout the week.
Board spokesman Eric Weiss says investigators are on the scene and plan to provide an update on the investigation 2 this afternoon at the crash site.
Authorities have identified the victims as 52-year-old William Ellsworth, of Tewksbury Township, and 51-year-old Tighe Sullivan, of Darien, Conn. Stephen Barral, of Bernardsville, N.J., was seriously hurt and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township. The hospital would not provide a condition today, but Barral was in critical condition Wednesday, a nursing supervisor said then.
Officials say the men were on their way back from a golf outing in New York and hit bad weather, which included rain and fog.
