The volunteers were expelled from the organization between 1971 and 1991, many for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with children. A list released today includes three volunteers each from Lehigh and Warren counties and one from Northampton County.

TIM KOSNOFF Tim Kosnoff, who represents alleged sex abuse victims in legal action against the Boy Scouts of America, released a list of volunteers banned by the Scouts, including a few residents of the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey.

Hundreds of volunteers who were expelled or resigned from the Boy Scouts of America on accusations of misconduct are being named in a list released by an attorney.

Included in the list posted Monday night are a small number of volunteers from the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey.

Three volunteers each are from Lehigh and Warren counties, and one is from Northampton County, according to the list.

Herman G. Meyer, of Columbia, Knowlton Township in Warren County, pleaded guilty in June 1985 to sexual assault of an 8-year-old girl and resigned Jan. 10, 1986, according to attorney Tim Kosnoff's list.

William Lee Symons, of New Tripoli, Lynn Township, in Lehigh County, pleaded guilty to "three counts of sexual contact" and was deemed ineligible to continue serving Aug. 21, 1986, according to the list.

The other five from northwestern New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley were never charged with a sex-related crime, according to the list.

Kosnoff, a Seattle attorney who represents victims of sexual abuse in lawsuits against the Boy Scouts of America, published the index of decades worth of records from the Scouts' so-called perversion files.

It includes a list of 1,900 volunteers who were expelled from the organization between 1971 and 1991, many for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with children. He has not released copies of the actual files.

The 1971-91 files were previously released in the 1990s by a California judge and have been written about by news organizations.

Similar records created between 1966 and 1985 are expected to be released soon following a ruling by the Oregon Supreme Court.
