A flood advisory was in place until 6:30 this morning for parts of the region as an area of very heavy rain just before dawn passed through the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey, the National Weather Service reports.
One to two inches of rain fell in as heavy showers with embedded thunderstorms ripped across the region, the weather service said.
Be careful as water ponds of roads, the weather service says. Stream are likely elevated as rush hour approaches, the weather service said.
The advisory covered western Northampton County, Lehigh County, Monroe County and Carbon County. The advisory did not extend into New Jersey.
The rain is expected to continue much of the day, but not nearly as heavy as it was early on.
