About 2 inches of snow is expected in the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey, much of it in the morning, a meteorologist says.
Tuesday's morning rush hour could be messy as the National Weather Service predicts snow will start falling about 7 a.m. and continue much of the day.As the morning hits its low temperature of 28 or 29 degrees at that hour, the snow will start to fall and could stick to roads early on, meteorologist Greg Heavener said from the weather service's office in Mount Holly, N.J.
About 2 inches of snow could accumulate, he said, mostly in the morning as the precipitation will become more scattered in the afternoon, he said. Rain could mix in later in the day, he said.
The weather service has included the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey in a hazardous weather outlook.
Heavener called the storm "a nice introduction to winter."
The day's high temperature will be in the mid-30s.
The weather will clear up by Wednesday and the next threat of a storm isn't until the weekend -- and with its northern tracks, it's more likely to be rain than snow, he said.
