The daughter of a Pen Argyl Area High School graduate remains in critical condition today about a week after a crash that killed her father and another man, officials said.

Audrey Halbfoerster, 7, is undergoing treatment at Geisinger Medical Center's pediatric intensive care unit in Danville, Pa., for injuries suffered from the crash, a hospital spokesman said this morning.

Audrey's father, Scott Halbfoerster, of Dushore, a former Plainfield Township and Wind Gap resident, died in a crash while driving to make make arrangements for his father's funeral, police said.

Scott Halbfoerster, 44, an East Stroudsburg University graduate, was driving north on state Route 220 when he attempted to pass a vehicle in front of him Nov. 20 in Towanda, Bradford County, police said.

According to police, Scott Halbfoerster crossed the double yellow line into the oncoming lane and collided with another car driven by John Ambrosone, 65, of Hammondsport, N.Y. Both drivers were killed.

Scott Halbfoerster's father, Robert Halbfoerster, formerly of Plainfield Township, died on Nov. 19 from natural causes. He was 80.

Scott Halbfoerster graduated from Pen Argyl Area High School in 1987. He leaves behind six children.
