Interstate 78 East in Greenwich Township, Berks County, has reopened as of 12:56 p.m. following a multivehicle accident that all lanes, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.WFMZ-TV 69 reports the accident involved a tractor-trailer and a highway construction vehicle; it occurred shortly before 10 a.m.
Officials on the scene told 69 News that PennDOT was using a vehicle with a flashing arrow on the back to close one lane of the highway for a construction project.
The department initially reported at 10:21 a.m. both lanes were closed due to road work but changed its 511pa.com alert at 11:31 a.m. to say the lanes are closed due to the crash.The crash is east of Route 143 in Berks' Greenwich Township.
