Wegmans has instituted a price freeze on mostly its own brand of products through April 6, the company said today.
Wegmans, which operates this supermarket in Allentown among others in the Lehigh Valley, has instituted a price freeze on seasonal items through April 6.
The list includes meat, seafood, produce, grocery, dairy, bakery, frozen foods and deli items the supermarket says are mostly popular in winter.
"Our seasonal list has been our way of helping families find value and plan meals on a budget," Wegmans President Colleen Wegman said in a statement. "Employees and customers stop me in our stores to say how helpful it's been. They especially like that the list is not random, but is made up of products they need to buy every week."
The list consists almost exclusively of Wegmans brand products because the company says it can be more aggressive with pricing its own brand.
Wegmans also announced it has extended free prescriptions (up to a 90-day supply) for Atorvastatin through the end of 2013. The program went into effect Aug. 26 and was originally planned to end on April 27.
Rochester, N.Y.,-based Wegmans operates Lehigh Valley supermarkets in Allentown, Lower Nazareth Township, and Hanover Township, Northampton County.
