A woman is behind bars after police say she tried to walk inside a Philadelphia high school with a loaded gun in a diaper bag.
A school district spokesman says the adult woman, identified as 21-year-old Kelly Jones, was entering South Philadelphia High School on Thursday to register for evening classes when school police at the X-ray machine spotted the .40 caliber Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun.
Philadelphia Police Capt. Laurence Nodiff says the serial number on the gun was obliterated and Jones did not have a permit for it.
Jones told police she didn't realize the gun was in her bag.
She was taken into custody and charged with multiple weapons charges. It couldn't be determined if she had an attorney.
