Today's high temperature could reach 60 degrees; the average high is 37.

Today's weather is going to be a springtime adventure in January, the National Weather Service reports.

Any time you wake up early in the morning and it's 43 degrees with thick fog when on an average day it's 20 degrees, it's unusual.

Throw in a flash flood warning tonight, a projected high temperature 23 degrees above the normal 37 degrees and a wind advisory that could lead to scattered power outages, and today and tonight could be challenging.

Visibility is less than a quarter mile this morning and a dense fog advisory remains in place until 8 o'clock (it was later extended to 10 o'clock). The fog could return this evening.

There are chances of rain and a potential thunderstorm between now and 4 this afternoon. After that the forecast becomes more certain: 100 percent chance of showers, with possible thunderstorms and an accumulation of as much as an inch.

The wind advisory goes from 6 this evening until 3 Thursday morning, but damaging gusts are forecast until 8 Thursday morning.

And it will remain windy on Thursday, with gusts up to 45 mph, the weather service reports.

The weather service advises people to slow down this morning and leave plenty of distance between you and the driver ahead of you.
