A Monroe County man is in prison after police say he set fire to a barn Saturday afternoon in Chestnuthill Township.Pennsylvania State Police at Fern Ridge said Chester William Lewoc, 56, of Gilbert, set fire to a barn on Astolat Road, about one-half mile west of Route 115. Fire officials were able to extinguish the blaze before it caused major damage. Police found a lighter in Lewoc's car that they believe he used to start the fire.
An investigation revealed Lewoc's son was killed in a crash Jan. 4 at this site, according to a news release.
Police say Lewoc was drunk when he set the fire and that he endangered the occupants of at least two other vehicles as he sped from the fire scene.
Lewoc was committed to Monroe County Prison and faces charges of arson, reckless endangerment, drunken driving and other traffic offenses.
