One lane will be open in both directions of Interstate 78 for the next six weekends starting Friday due to a road repaving and improvement project, according to a news release from The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

Traffic will be limited to single lanes of travel east and west on I-78 in the area of the Morgan Hill Road interchange or Exit 75, according to a Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

The repaving and improvement project has been taking place along the commission’s 2.25-mile Pennsylvania segment of I-78 since September. Single-lane travel conditions are expected to be put into effect for six weekends in March and April along various portions of I-78 between the Morgan Hill Road interchange to the I-78 Toll Bridge at the Delaware River, according to the release.

The single-lane travel restrictions will be in place on weekends because traffic is lighter, there will be fewer delays for commercial shipments, and commuter traffic is minimal.

This weekend’s lane closures will involve half-mile sections of I-78 where the road consists of two travel lanes in each direction in the area of the Morgan Hill interchange.

The dates and times for the travel restrictions are as follows:

Eastbound: Single right lane travel only, beginning at mile-marker 75.2 from 7 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Sunday.

Westbound – Single right lane travel only, beginning at mile-marker 75.8 from 6 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Monday.
