The alleged assault occurred at the 51-year old's Wilson Borough home, court records say.

A 7-year-old girl has accused a Phillipsburg School District employee of sexually assaulting her during a November visit to his Wilson Borough home, court records state.

Terry Fehley, who has addresses in Phillipsburg and Wilson Borough, was arraigned today before District Judge Richard Yetter, according to the records.

Wilson police say the 51-year-old touched the girl with his penis Nov. 17 while she slept in his home in the 1500 block of Northampton Street.

Court records show that Fehley is suspended from his Phillipsburg School District position. The district's website, pburgsd.net, lists Fehley as a custodian at Freeman Elementary School.

Phillipsburg schools Superintendent George Chando did not immediately return a call for comment. The terms of Fehley's suspension were unclear.

A call for comment to Fehley's Wilson Borough home was not immediately returned. The number listed for his Phillipsburg address, in the 700 block of South Main Street, was disconnected today.

Police said they were initially contacted Nov. 20 by a detective from the Warren County Prosecutor's Office who was investigating a sexual assault and found it had allegedly occurred in Wilson Borough.

The following day, Wilson police spoke with the mother of the child, who relayed that her daughter accused Fehley of assaulting her while she was sleeping in his bed, court records say.

The child's mother told police that Fehley was a family friend, records say.

In an interview with police, the child repeated the story and said that she had stayed in Fehley's house eight times, according to the court records.

Fehley is charged with indecent assault of a person under 13, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was released on $45,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 18 before Yetter in Wilson Borough.
