Lehigh, Northampton and Warren counties are among an eight-county swath of Pennsylvania and New Jersey under a hazardous weather outlook issued tonight for Friday night into Saturday by the National Weather Service at Mount Holly, N.J.

The weather service calls for snow showers from Bethlehem to Belvidere between 7 p.m. Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday, with only a half-inch or less of precipitation possible. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

For Saturday, snow is forecast after 4 a.m., with a changeover to a mix of rain, snow and sleet throughout the day before turning to snow from 8 p.m. to midnight. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, with precipitation amounts of a quarter-inch to half-inch possible.

The storm is forecast to be out of the region by Sunday, when temperatures are predicted to peak near 40 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
