With high winds, low humidity and dry tinder, if a fire were to ignite, it could spread quickly, the forecast says.
A "Red Flag Warning" has been issued for 9 this morning until 10 tonight in the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey as brisk winds and dry tinder have increased the threat of wildfires quickly spreading, the National Weather Service reports on its website.
Winds are expected to be sustained at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph, the weather service said. The relative humidity is expected to go as low as 20 to 25 percent.
Outdoor burning is not recommended, the weather service says.
The "critical fire weather conditions" mean that if a fire ignites, it likely could get out of control in as hurry, the weather service said.
