Transportation agencies in New Jersey are beefing up security in the wake of the explosions that rocked the Boston Marathon.
New Jersey Transit says it has deployed additional police to patrol its system of trains and buses. But an agency spokesman says no specific threat has been made against the agency.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey also is in a heightened state of alert at bridges, tunnels and on its PATH rail line between New Jersey and New York.

The mayor of Philadelphia says the city is on a heightened level of security following today’s explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon but said there have been no specific threats in or against the city.
Mayor Michael Nutter told reporters this evening that officials have extended hours and tours of duty for personnel and are “monitoring actively a variety of key and historic locations” and would deploy resources as needed.
He also said security will be stepped up for the annual Broad Street Run scheduled for Sunday, May 5.
The mayor, flanked by the police commissioner and other city officials, said residents would be able to see some of the measures taken, but they won’t be able to see others.
He urged residents to report anything suspicious.

Police Sgt. Monica McMenamin says police are asking residents and visitors to be alert and report anything suspicious.
But the city's 12 casinos remain open, and executives at several say they have not been told by authorities to undertake any unusual security measures beyond those normally in place.
New Jersey authorities also placed a regional emergency medical technician network on a heightened state of readiness in case there is any incident in the state.
