The event is part of Nationwide Open House 2013 and comes on the heels of a positive report on housing sales in the region.
Real estate agents across the region are joining a national effort to ramp up home sales through a blitz of open houses this weekend, according the Lehigh Valley Association of Realtors.
Nationwide Open House 2013 is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
The local association says its member agents plan to host hundreds of open houses in the region in connection with the national effort.
LVAR, in a news release, said the timing of the effort is optimal. It comes just days after the association released its latest report on home sales, which shows that pending home sales in March were up 20.3 percent compared to the same time period last year.
The report, released on Monday, also says houses remained on the market fewer days this March compared to March 2012. Additionally, inventory saw a decrease last month compared to the same time the previous year, the report says.
LVAR President Therese Kelley pointed to the latest figures as reasons why propspective buyers should jump on making offers when they see something they want.
“With decreasing inventory and an increase in pending sales, potential homebuyers need to be attuned to current market conditions,” Kelley said in a statement.
The local monthly housing report is based on data collected through the association’s multiple listing system. LVAR is a non-profit trade organization.
Nationally, steady job growth, near record-low mortgage rates and rising home values have encouraged more people to buy homes. In response to higher demand and a low supply of available homes for sale, builders have stepped up construction.
March’s pace of homes started nationwide was nearly 46 percent higher than in the same month in 2012.
