Albert J. Pianelli Sr., 89, of Phillipsburg, peacefully passed on to his place with the Lord Wednesday at his home, surrounded by family.
He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine during World War II in the invasions of Iwo Jima, Saipan and Guam for which he was honored with a Purple Heart after being severely wounded in battle.

He went on to achieve two of the highest honors in his field, the Crystal Excellence and President's Club.
