WFMZ is reporting one person was hurt in the wreck and has been taken to a nearby hospital.

A Hoboken, N.J., paraglider suffered minor injuries when his chute crashed next to Blue Mountain Ski Area in Palmerton, Pa., Carbon County, WFMZ reports.

The crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. after Gene Gleason, who was paragliding with friends, performed an emergency landing, according to WFMZ. Witnesses saw the chute turn and spin before hitting the ground, the report states.

Gleason, who was gliding about 150 feet in the air, hit a pocket of "warm air," which caused turbulence similar to an airplane, the report states.

Police told WFMZ that Gleason was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township for treatment of "minor injuries."
