An out-of-county judge will have to preside over former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky's trial for allegedly sexually abusing children, after all Centre County judges recused themselves from the case today.
The Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts announced today that out-of-county judges have been named to deal with any related court business in the Centre County case.
Sandusky faces 40 criminal counts for sexually abusing eight boys over a 15-year period through his role at The Second Mile charity.
Sandusky, whose preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13, has maintained his innocence.
The court system says the case will eventually be handled by McKean County Senior Judge John Cleland. Until he's able to assume jurisdiction, a different judge from Perry and Juniata counties is filling in.
University administrators Gary Schultz and Tim Curley, charged with perjury during grand jury testimony, are slated to appear in court Dec. 6.
