Authorities are looking for a University of Rhode Island student from southeastern Pennsylvania, and say he may have traveled through the Lehigh Valley.

Matthew R. Royer, 21, of Collegeville in Montgomery County, left his Rhode Island apartment Thursday to return home but never made it, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Skippack.

State police and Narragansett police in Rhode Island are attempting to locate Royer. He is described as white, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He was driving a silver 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt with Pennsylvania registration GZR-9059, according to state police.

His cellphone registered activity early Friday morning near Interstate 78 and Route 309 in Lehigh County. Janet Royer, Matthew Royer’s mother, told NBC10 and WFMZ-TV 69 video surveillance from a Sunoco gas station on Route 100 in the Fogelsville, Upper Macungie Township, area appears to show him stopping there.

"That's the latest that we have," Trooper Tamara English said tonight.

WFMZ described what he was last known to be wearing as a beige baseball cap with "Biltmore" on it, a dark green golf shirt, khaki pants and sandals.

Pennsylvania State Police at Skippack ask anyone with information to call investigators at 610-584-1250.
