According to the report, total toll revenue increased by 5.2 percent in April. In March, a 1.1 percent revenue decrease was recorded.
Overall toll revenue collected from the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission's seven toll bridges increased in April compared to the same time last year.It's also an improvement from March, when the commission reported decreases in both overall toll revenue and traffic.
The monthly report, which compared April 2012 with April 2013, was released this morning during the commission's monthly meeting in Solebury Township, Pa.
According to the report, total toll revenue increased by 5.2 percent in April. In March, a 1.1 percent revenue decrease was recorded.
Total toll traffic numbers last month were still down compared to the same time last year as the commission reported an overall decrease of 9,607 commercial and passenger vehicles combined.
In March, the commission saw an overall decrease of more than 21,000 tolled vehicles compared to March 2012.
However, total
traffic across the commission's 11 toll and toll-supported
bridges was up by 0.81 percent in April as more than 21,000 vehicles
were recorded in westbound lanes. March had seen a decrease of more than
84,000 vehicles, or 3.15 percent.
Among the toll bridges connecting Warren and Northampton counties, the Easton-Phillipsburg Route 22 toll bridge was the only crossing to experience an increase in toll traffic in April as it recorded a 5.33 percent increase of 23,000 more cars and trucks.
In contrast, the Interstate 78 toll bridge saw an overall traffic decrease of 5.33 percent and the Portland-Columbia Toll Bridge experienced a 9.08 percent total traffic decrease.
The Delaware Water Gap toll bridge recorded more total traffic in its second straight month with a slim increase of 0.15 percent.
In Hunterdon County, the New-Hope Lambertville toll bridge rebounded in April with an overall traffic increase of 2.85 percent after posting a 0.71 decrease in March.
The commission will next meet at 10:30 a.m. June 24.
