Authorities say an elderly man was killed when his car was struck by a sport utility vehicle that was being driven the wrong way on a northern New Jersey highway.

It's not yet known why the SUV driver, identified only as a 44-year-old Nutley woman, was traveling the wrong way on the highway. She was ejected from her vehicle during the crash and was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.
The crash killed an 80-year-old Rutherford man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
