A temporary bridge will be removed, PennDOT says. Detours will be in place and motorists are asked to seek alternative routes.
Interstate 83 will be closed for six hours Saturday into Sunday in both directions in the Harrisburg area so the temporary Lowther Street bridge can be removed, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reports.
The highway will be shut at 11 p.m. at the Route 581 interchange, PennDOT said. Northbound traffic will be detoured onto Lowther Street just north of Exit 40B in New Cumberland, Pa., PennDOT said. Southbound traffic will be detoured at Exit 42 in Lemoyne, Pa., PennDOT said.
Major delays are expected and motorists are asked to seek alternative routes, PennDOT said.
