Flash flood warning issued for southeast Pennsylvania, N.J.

Meteorologist Rob Reale of WeatherWorks said that the threat of river flooding is low and that winds may reach 15 to 20 mph during the storm.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch for a majority of New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania for tonight through Friday night as Tropical Storm Andrea heads up the coast.

Local residents can rest a little easier -- there is no warning issued for Northampton and Lehigh counties in Pennsylvania or Sussex and Warren counties in New Jersey. (This forecast was later updated to include Sussex and Warren counties in the flash flood watch.)

According to National Weather Service meteorologist Anthony Gigi, the tail end of Andrea's anticipated effects will be the worst the region sees.

"Andrea will pass through late Friday, which means you'€™ll see the makings for soaking rain in the afternoon," he said. "€œBy Saturday, there should only be some hit-or-miss showers and thunderstorms throughout the day."

Gigi said Northampton and Lehigh counties should expect about 2 inches of rain in the next day.
