Heavy rain will work its way this morning and tonight through the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey.

If you thought the flooding threat ended late last week when the remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea headed off to the north, well, think again.

Northampton and Lehigh counties are in a flood advisory through 9:45 this morning as heavy rain works through the region from the south, according to the National Weather Service. There is a possibility of rush hour thunderstorms.

There is a danger of ponding on roads and authorities warn motorists not to drive into standing water.

The Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey are in a flood watch through 2 a.m. Tuesday as the potential for flooding remains as more wet weather is expected to cut through the region tonight.

The Delaware River was at 4.22 feet at 5:30 this morning in Easton; flood stage is 22 feet, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The Musconetcong River at Bloomsbury was at 2.51 feet; flood stage is 6 feet.
