A statement from the National Park Service says the Delaware swelled to nearly 12 feet Friday afternoon following heavy rains this week. It normally runs between 5 and 6 feet.
Park officials say swimming will be prohibited in the river until it recedes below 8 feet, which is not expected until after the weekend.
Also, all boaters are required to wear life vests while on the river within the park. Officials are warning of swift currents and possible floating debris.
