There have been a number of motor vehicle accidents reported.
It's going to be a nasty commute this morning, so be careful on your morning drive.The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning, focusing on small streams and creeks. It looks like the Monocacy Creek has crested at about 4.5 feet in Bethlehem, where it has done serious damage in recent months.
The rain -- there could be as much as 3 inches from the storm that started Tuesday -- should stay around until about 10 this morning, and it is projected that it will get windier and colder as the day goes on, the weather services says. Accuweather sees the rain lasting further into the day.
There have been a number of accidents so far this morning, including on Interstate 80 East at mile marker 1 in Hardwick Township, on East Lawn Road in Upper Nazareth Township, Route 31 in Clinton Township and 13th Street and Wood Avenue in Easton.
There are some road closures.
Stiger Street was shut between Route 46 and Beatty Street, and Charles Street was closed between Stiger Street and West Prospect Street in Hackettstown due to a downed pole and wires, town police report. (Both were reopened by 8:30 this morning.)
Kesslersville Road was closed at 8 o'clock between Uhler Road and Kuebler Road in Forks Township due to flooding, WFMZ-TV reported. Santee Road between Easton and Clifton avenues is shut by flooding in Bethlehem Township, Pa., the station reported on its website.
The following Lehigh County roads were closed as of 11:30:
- Eberhart Road between Range Road and Pine Street in Whitehall Township due to flooding
- Schantz Road between Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township and Cetronia Road in Upper Macungie Township due to flooding
- Spring Creek Road between PA 100 and Mill Creek Road in Lower Macungie Township due to flooding
