The procession carrying Joe Paterno to the private funeral service was scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., but got started a little after 4 o'clock.

Paterno's funeral and burial this afternoon will be private at the Paterno family's request.
Outside, students gathered in anticipation of the procession in which a hearse carrying Joe Paterno's casket will cross campus, past Beaver Stadium.
Sydney Bickford, a Penn State junior and 2009 graduate of Saucon Valley High School, said she felt compelled to stand along the procession route in honor of Paterno.
"Joe Paterno's done so much for our university," Bickford said. "We can spend part of our time to see him off."
Earlier today buses delivered the mourners to the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center.
Penn State players, including Whitehall High School grad Matt Millen, of Durham Township, visited the worship center. Millen is a former NFL All-Pro linebacker and current ESPN analyst.
ESPN broadcaster and Penn State quarterback great Todd Blackledge was also there.
