The body found in Frenchtown is that of a man who went missing after embarking on a rafting trip from Knowlton Township.

Dental records have confirmed that a body found in the Delaware River is that of a northern New Jersey man who went missing during a rafting trip last weekend.

The body was found Tuesday afternoon in Frenchtown, more than 35 miles downriver from where Gary West Jr. went missing. State police tell The Star-Ledger that the death has been ruled an accidental drowning.

The 38-year-old Summit resident vanished on June 29. Authorities have said West and his 14-year-old daughter were on a group trip when their rafts overturned in very rough water near Upper Mount Bethel Township.

A former U.S. Marine from Independence Township helped rescue the teen, who suffered minor injuries, but searchers failed to find the father until Tuesday.
