The 20-year-old reportedly manipulated his handcuffs, slipped into the front seat, and drove off in a police car after being arrested.
A 20-year-old Pocono Summit man was arrested this afternoon after escaping the scene of an alleged burglary by stealing a police car on Saturday night, according to media reports.
Kenneth Botke was arrested around 1:15 p.m. today near the intersection of Vacation Lane and Holiday Drive in Pocono Summit, according to the Pocono Record.
Botke had entered the home of two residents today and was waving a gun while asking for a ride when authorities spotted him, police said, and they had use a stun gun on him in order to subdue him.
Botke was on the loose since Saturday night, police said.
According to the Record, the incident began when Pocono Mountain Regional Police responded to a call involving burglaries 10 p.m. Saturday at residence of Botke's mother.
Botke was out on unsecured bail after allegedly stealing his younger brother’s car last month, according to reports.
While police were at the residence on Saturday, Botke arrived and was identified, handcuffed and placed in the back of the patrol car as police went to take statements, according to reports.
The report says, while in the patrol car, Botke manipulated his handcuffs and moved into the front of the car. He drove the police car a few blocks before ditching it on Flag Court and fleeing on foot, according to reports.
