Bethlehem Township, Pa., woman assaults mother in vehicle, police say

Bail was set for the 20-year-old at 10 percent of $7,500. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 29.

A Bethlehem Township, Pa., woman faces charges after allegedly assaulting her mother in a car early Sunday morning.

Caitlyn Marie Norder, 20, of the 2000 block of Spear Street, was arraigned today before District Judge Richard Yetter on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another and harassment after police say she injured her mother while next to her in the backseat of a vehicle Sunday.

Police said that Tina Norder, Caitlyn Norder's mother, told them that she picked her daughter up from the area of 11th and Northampton streets in Easton at around 1:15 a.m. Sunday after she had been called.

Zachary Bittman, the boyfriend of another of Tina Norder's daughters, was in the car with Tina Norder when they picked up Caitlyn, according to court records.

After Caitlyn Norder attempted to jump out of the moving car shortly after getting in, Bittman took the wheel and Tina Norder sat in the backseat with her daughter, according to court records.

Police said Caitlyn Norder then assaulted Tina Norder while the car was in the area of Northampton and 25th streets, hitting and headbutting her.

Tina Norder told police the next morning she went to Lehigh Valley Hospital -- Muhlenberg where she was treated for injuries to her face, according to court records. Police said Tina Norder had visible signs of bruising and swelling on her face when she met with an officer on Monday.

Bail was set for Caitlyn Norder at 10 percent of $7,500. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 29.
