The highway's westbound lanes were shut down for more than an hour.
Interstate 78 is now open after a crash was cleared from the highway, according to the the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The crash between the Route 412 and Route 309 exits was cleared at 8:13 p.m., according to the transportation department website.
Westbound traffic was shut down on the highway at 6:50 p.m., according to an emergency radio report.
No further information was available from Northampton County's emergency radio dispatcher center or from the Pennsylvania State Police barracks at Belfast.
