The rear trailer was overturned in the crash, which was reported at 10:28 p.m., according to State Police at Perryville. Hazmat teams from Warren County and the state police were dispatched to the scene. The type of chemical spilled was not immediately known.
I-78 westbound was shut down, as was the exit ramp onto Route 22. Traffic was being diverted off the highway at Exit 7 to Route 173, police said.
