The 23-year-old's car struck and passed under the trailer of a tractor-trailer, authorities said.
A 23-year-old Monroe County man was killed when his vehicle struck and passed under the trailer of a tractor-trailer late Thursday afternoon in the county, authorities said.
Stephen L. Nordmark, of Sciota in Hamilton Township, Pa., was northbound on Business Route 209 when his vehicle struck the tractor-trailer entering the road, Monroe County Coroner Robert M. Allen said in a news release.
Allen pronounced Nordmark dead at 6:02 p.m. at the scene.
An autopsy was scheduled today.
The Pocono Record reports Nordmark was driving a 2011 Jeep Wrangler and that the vehicle's roof and front hood were torn off.
The truck driver, identified as Donald Walsh, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., was not seriously hurt, the newspaper reports.
The coroner's office was assisted by Pennsylvania State Police at Swiftwater, West End Ambulance and Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder.
