Authorities were responding about 5:30 tonight to Bicentennial Park in East Allen Township.
A handful of cross-country runners were taken to the hospital for feeling ill after a race at Bicentennial Park in East Allen Township, a coach said.
Northampton cross country coach Dan Benner said all of the runners finished the race, which included teams from Parkland, Whitehall, Nazareth Area and Northampton Area high schools.
Benner chalked the students' conditions up to the heat, saying, "It was just very, very hot."
The athletes were expected to be treated with fluids at the hospital as a precautionary measure, he said. Authorities responded to the park about 5:30 p.m., according to emergency radio reports.
