Police say the 20--year-old told them the brakes on the car failed and he couldn’t stop it.
Philadelphia police have charged a 20-year-old man with reckless endangerment for allegedly driving his car down the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps made famous when Sylvester Stallone ran up them in the movie “Rocky.”
KYW-TV reports 20-year-old Emin Faki surrendered Thursday. Online court records show he was arraigned early today and applied for a public defender, though one hasn’t been assigned.
The Oct. 24 incident made national headlines when a photographer with local entertainment website PhillyChitChat.com posted a video of the incident.
Police say Faki told them the brakes on the car failed and he couldn’t stop it.
Police had the car checked out and filed the criminal charge.
A district judge ordered Faki to appear for a preliminary hearing Dec. 18 — and to stay away from the art museum in the meantime.
