The hospital's previous CEO, Brian Finestein, resigned abruptly July 29.

Easton Hospital has a familiar face at the helm despite naming a new chief executive officer today.

John Zidansek has served as interim CEO of the 283-bed, acute care hospital in Wilson Borough since July. The hospital dropped "interim" from his title today, according to a news release.

"It's been a pleasure to get to know the exceptional physicians, employees and volunteers at Easton Hospital," Zidansek said in the release. "I'm honored to continue working with them to provide a destination where patients can seek high-quality care."

The hospital's previous CEO, Brian Finestein, resigned abruptly July 29 with no explanation. He was the hospital's fourth chief executive officer in three years when he took the job in September 2010.

Zidansek worked as the CEO of Lock Haven Hospital and Sharon Regional Health System before coming to Easton, according to the news release. At Lock Haven, he grew the primary care base and improved the orthopedic program. Both Lock Haven and Easton hospitals are affiliated with Community Health Systems, a nationwide hospital operator.

Stephen Wilson, Easton Hospital's vice president of marketing, said the focus of Zidansek's daily work won't change.

"His goal is to continue to help support the hospital and create it to be the best place to practice medicine, the best place to receive high-quality, compassionate care with the best outcomes and the best place to work," Wilson said.

Hospital leaders are still in the strategic planning process for next year and Zidansek has a lot of good ideas, Wilson said.

He declined to comment on the selection process or Zidansek's salary.

Tom Muller, chairman of the hospital's board of trustees, said he looks forward to working with Zidansek in his permanent role.

"John's expertise will support the hospital's growth and mission to provide the Easton community with quality care close to home," Muller said in the news release.

Zidansek has a bachelor's degree in biology and psychology and a master's degree in health administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
