Animal welfare officials in Philadelphia say charges have been filed against two city men who allegedly set a cat on fire.
The counts filed today against 21-year-old Tyrique Hall and 18-year-old Jose Sanchez include criminal conspiracy and cruelty to animals.
A spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says the suspects were in custody tonight and did not yet have lawyers.
The cat was burned Nov. 10 in the city’s Olney section. According to the SPCA, a witness overheard one man say, “I put a lot of fluid on it” after seeing the cat running by in flames.
