The 41-year-old woman launched a fusillade of attacks, employing a small axe and hot cooking oil.
A Somerset County, N.J., woman is wanted on attempted murder charges for allegedly attacking her husband Friday with hot cooking oil, a small axe and an unknown chemical, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
Authorities are seeking Mauvette Daley Mattandeen, 41, of Franklin Township, who fled her Oswestry Way home after the incident, according to the report.
Mattandeen's husband alleges that the attacks escalated from an initial assault while he was sleeping, when his wife threw an unidentified chemical on his face and
eyes. He ran into the shower to rinse out the
substance when his wife flung a pot of hot cooking oil at him, he told police.
When he ran from the bathroom, his wife allegedly hit him with a small hand axe. The victim told police he was able to disarm his wife and escaped to a neighbor's house to call 911. He was transported by the New Jersey State Police helicopter to St. Barnabas Hospital. He is currently being treated for severe burns to the head, face and upper torso, according to the release.
Mattandeen faces attempted murder and two counts of weapon
possession for an unlawful purpose.
