The June 30 crash killed 22-year-old Daniel Fouracre of Bensalem and injured several other people.

A 14-year-old Philadelphia boy charged with murder after allegedly taking his mother's car for an early morning joyride that ended in a fatal crash will spend the next four years in a juvenile detention facility.

The case was sent to juvenile court in a tentative plea deal struck during a hearing today in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court.

Winston Charleston had been charged as an adult after the June 30 crash that killed 22-year-old Daniel Fouracre, of Bensalem, and injured several other people.

But today's plea deal drops the third-degree murder charge and sends the case to juvenile court, a decision legal experts expected given the defendant's age and the nature of the offenses, according to the Bucks County Courier Times.

When Charleston is released at the age of 18, he will be on probation until he turns 21.

The victim's parents said the fact that the youth would remain in custody for four years would give them time to heal.
