State police reported 936 crashes between Wednesday and Sunday.

The number of fatal crashes from the holiday week is down from last year, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Between Wednesday and Sunday -- the Thanksgiving holiday driving period -- state police investigated 936 crashes, 74 of which were alcohol-related, including one fatal crash, state police said.

In those crashes, nine people were killed and 236 others were injured, according to state police.

Those totals are down from 2012’s total of 13 people who died and 349 injured in holiday driving crashes, according to state police. Both totals do not include crashes investigated by local police departments.

State police handed out 7,446 speeding citations and arrested 433 drivers for driving under the influence.

State police also issued 1,202 citations for people failing to wear seat belts and issued 104 citations to drivers for not securing children in safety seats.
