The Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey could have problems with freezing rain and snow early and then late Sunday into Monday, the weather service says.

Some high school basketball games tonight are being postponed if they involve teams from the Poconos because a winter weather advisory involving sleet goes into effect at 4 this afternoon in Monroe County communities such as Stroudsburg.

Freezing rain and snow are also in the forecast as the advisory stays in place until 7 a.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service reports.

But the Lehigh Valley and northwest New Jersey should see all rain until early Saturday morning. As precipitation turns to snow, very little accumulation is expected, the weather service said.

But come Sunday, there is a chance of snow here in the morning, mixing with rain in the afternoon, the weather service says. Then, about 4 Monday morning, sleet, freezing rain and snow could leave behind a half inch on the ground, the weather service said. It should be all rain after 8 a.m., the weather service said.

On the plus side, Saturday, when it's not rainy or snowy, should be partly sunny, the weather service said.
