Across the region, residents try to stay warm.

As you warm up from shoveling out this afternoon, take solace in this fact: Areas north of Boston saw more than 23 inches of snow.

Masslive.com reports the state saw greatly varying snowfall totals, with the western counties reporting only 4 to 6 inches. If you haven't seen enough snow here, click through photos of snow removal there.

In central New York, Syracuse.com is warning residents -- residents already used to the cold and snow, mind you -- about a cold snap. Wind chills today and through Saturday morning could make it feel 25 to 35 degrees below zero.

Down in Washington, D.C., a columnist Thursday argued that folks there aren't "weather wusses," as we might all suggest if visiting there when a few flakes begin to fall.

In New Jersey, the weather totals varied across the state, and NJ.com put together an interactive map of more than 100 measurements.

And if you need tips to stay warm, good chance folks in Maine know the best way to do it. Read thoughts from the residents up there in a post from the Portland Press Herald.
