The arachnid apparently hitched a ride on a bunch of imported bananas.
A Pennsylvania man is recovering after he was stung by a scorpion that hitched a ride on a bunch of imported bananas.
TV station KYW reports that the scorpion sting occurred as a worker was unloading bananas from Honduras at the Giant food store in Havertown, in the Philadelphia suburbs.
Giant spokesman Chris Brand says in a statement that the store regrets the incident and has taken immediate steps to prevent it from happening again. The unidentified worker was treated and released from Delaware County Memorial Hospital.
Brand says their supplier will strengthen inspections of outgoing shipments.
