This morning's heavy snow is leading to accidents on area roads.
A vehicle turned on its side about 9:15 this morning in Williams Township, according to emergency radio reports. The vehicle flipped on Diehl Road in the S curves between Berger Road and Morgan Hill Road, radio reports said. Two elderly people were trapped, according to emergency dispatches. One of the people was out of the vehicle by 9:45 and was being put in an ambulance, radio reports said.
A car was facing the wrong way about 9:30, apparently having spun out on Route 22 West entering Cemetery Curve just past the Fourth Street entrance in Easton.
Route 22 West in the Bethlehem area was very slow at that hour.
Route 57 west of Washington was affected by the weather, with traffic being slowed to 20 to 30 mph.
Requests were being made throughout the region for salt trucks and plows as drivers struggled with conditions.
Snow this morning is expected to accumulate to about an inch, with sleet mixing in, the National Weather Service said in a short-term forecast. Heavy bands are expected. A freezing rain advisory for Hunterdon County has been extended until 3 this afternoon, the weather service said.
