Jeanne M. Pomager also became the commission's first woman assistant superintendent in 2001.
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission this week appointed its first female district superintendent.
Jeanne M. Pomager gained approval Monday as superintendent for the commission’s District III. She's now responsible for the agency’s four northernmost bridges: the Delaware Water Gap (Interstate 80) Toll Bridge, the Milford, Pa.-Montague Toll Bridge, the Portland-Columbia Toll Bridge and the Portland-Columbia Pedestrian Bridge.
The promotion for Pomager, who had been assistant superintendent for District III, took effect immediately, toll bridge commission spokesman Pete Peterson said. Her salary is $89,068.
“Jeanne Pomager possesses 10 years of experience in assisting with the oversight of the district’s operations and has extensive knowledge of the capital improvements we have performed,” Frank G. McCartney, the commission’s executive director, said in a statement. “We are pleased to have someone with Pomager’s background and experience to lead our District III operations.”
Pomager also was the first woman to serve as assistant superintendent when she was appointed in May 2001, the toll bridge commission says.
She recommended and implemented environmentally conscious policies as a member of the Commission’s Green Team, has chaired the agency’s Workplace Safety Committee for three years and was helped form the agency’s Motorist Assistance Program, the commission says in a news release.
She also has helped a series of commission initiatives, including the Northerly Crossing Corridor Congestion Mitigation Study, the Milford-Montague Rehabilitation Project and the Delaware Water Gap (I-80) Express E-ZPass Project.
As superintendent, Pomager will oversee a range of operations in District III, including toll collection, maintenance, equipment and facility operations, and safety.
Pomager holds a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University.
