Pennsylvania State Police Troop M, which is based in Bethlehem, investigated 53 accidents which resulted in 23 injuries and one fatality over the Memorial Day weekend, according to a news release this morning.

Troopers issued 1,188 citations, almost half for speeding, with 73 for seat belt violations, 14 for child seat violations and 27 for DUI, police report.

Troop M covers Bucks, Lehigh and Northampton counties. The weekend ran from Friday through Monday, police said.
