Beltzville State Park closed to swimming

The lake will remain off limits for swimming until bacterial levels drop, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources reports.

UPDATE: Lake at Beltzville State Park reopens to swimming

The lake at Beltzville State Park near Lehighton in Carbon County was closed to swimming today after high bacterial levels were found in the water during a test Tuesday, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources reported this morning in a news release.

The beach will remain closed until bacteria levels return to an acceptable level, the state said.

People can boat and fish on the lake and can picnic and hike in the park, according to the release.
